It's all me this week

Well, no treasury features for me so far this week, so this post will just be about treasuries I made! Luckily I made two because I felt like it. The above is a non-FAETeam collection for once. There are a few FAE items in there but mostly it's stuff culled from my Etsy favorites. I really do love fancy hair accessories!

I did of course make a FAETeam Treasury too! It's called Squeee! and it features a bunch of cute items because I felt like I needed a break from Halloween and Fall-related themes. Besides, who could resist that little otter's face?

Feathery Treasury

I've been really into feathers lately, and then I saw that ridiculously awesome peacock mohawk. Wow! That had to go in a treasury! So I stepped outside of the usual box of making FAETeam-only Treasuries, and made one that had members of my team, but also other sellers whose work was beautiful and feathery and well-photographed. Along the way I found lots of things that I wanted to buy, especially hair accessories. I've been so crazy over my hair and things to go in it!

No treasury features for me this week, boohoo. Actually, not many people at all made FAETeam treasuries this week, so I'm not surprised. I can't expect Mermie to include me EVERY week!

I can't help but notice that my comments section has been really quiet this week. What's up, everyone? Let's talk! I just talked about how I've been obsessed with feathers and my hair... what are you obsessed with?

Two new things for me!

To celebrate the fact that I finished all my outstanding custom orders and birthday presents for friends, I decided to make myself a couple of presents! First, a cool necklace with a pendant that is either a tengu, Garuda, or some other bird-man. Second a bone hairstick adorned with glass and stone beads, a carved skull, and an Afghani coin. Big surprise, both items are brown and green!

The hairstick is actually a prototype for a new product line. What do you think? Would you like to see unique tribal hairsticks at Handmade Jewelry by Erthe Fae Designs? Hairstick materials would include bone, horn, wood and metal, and accents would include beads of all sorts, coins, bells, pendants, keys, and whatever else would look cool. Pricing would probably range from $10-$20+ depending on how fancy they get and how much I have to pay for the base stick.

More pictures of both items will be posted next week, right now I have way too much to do before I head off to belly dance class!

Let's talk about Treasury Tuesday!

I have to say, I really like this treasury that I made yesterday! It was choose-your-own-theme again, and after vacillating for a bit, I saw a hair accessory that I liked in someone else's treasury and decided that I should do an entire collection of beautiful hair goodies. It seems rather fitting, because I've really been into taking care of my hair lately, trying new products to clean it and style it and keep it safe from harm.

Also, I was featured in two treasuries yesterday! Phoenix Feathers Beaded Choker continues its winning run by being featured in Busy as a Bee Creating Blissfully by Liza's Whimsical Art. Meanwhile, Miss July the Faerie Pin-Up Necklace is in All A-Glow by Mermaiden Creations, my favorite treasury curator!

Fun and Sun at Ren Faire!

Here's a picture of me with my awesome mother-in-law Marlyn at the Renaissance Faire! I'm a woodlands belly dancer and she's a mischievous imp -- the horns and ears are from the NY Faire, but the awesome wings were purchased yesterday at our Faire. The skirt and belt are from my closet, we're close enough in size that I was able to help her with an impromptu costume. However, while we were there she picked up a couple of skirts, so she'll have her own costume when we return to the NY Faire in August!

This was my first time doing Tribal buns. I put my hair up in two little buns, wrapped the yarn falls around them once, clipped them into place with little barrettes and then added all of the flowers and sticks I could. I really love this new pair of falls, they're perfectly earthy and have more texture than my green and black pair. I could see myself getting addicted to wearing my hair this way. I just have to remember to sunscreen my scalp...

Yes, as usual I got a little too much sun with my fun! But it was worth it. Mediaeval Baebes were back again, this weekend only! We saw their show, two belly dance/world music troupes, and the falconry show, in between all our shopping. What a great time! The weather was perfect, the performers were all at top form, and the booths were well-stocked with beautiful goodies. And I even got my first henna tattoo! Yay!

My desk is covered in yarn

One of my purchases at the gem show yesterday was a cute green and brown striped skirt (yes, skirts at the "gem show") which I decided that I wanted to wear to the Renaissance Faire tomorrow. Then I decided that I wanted to make some yarn "hair" to match the skirt, so I popped over to JoAnn's, picked up three skeins, and supplemented them with some yarn, ribbon and thread that I already had, to make some really wild, mossy, faerie-inspired falls. I'll get pictures of myself wearing them tomorrow!

Super storm!

I didn't go to dance class tonight. Why? Because I didn't feel safe driving in rain and wind with gusts of up to 60mph. And it's a good thing I made that decision, because half an hour after I would have left for Tempe, the owner of Plaza de Anaya went to open the studio for the night and found there was no power -- so all the classes were canceled anyway!

There's a crazy storm in AZ today. The Bead Museum in Glendale closed early. Halstead Bead in Prescott was sandbagging their loading docks in preparation for flooding. Funnel clouds were seen in Gilbert. There's possibly a tornado watch between midnight and 2am here in Tucson.

All I can say is that I really hope the weather is getting all of this out of its system, so that we can have a beautiful, sunny gem show and lovely weather for my mother-in-law's visit. After all, I had to slog through the mud at the NY Ren Faire, I'd really rather not repeat that experience at ours!

In totally unrelated news, I got my hair cut yesterday. No, I did not get it all cut off, I did not donate it to Locks of Love, all I did was get several inches of frazzled ends lopped off, and got a few layers. I'll post Before and After pictures soon!
